| Red
Tower is a twenty-three bed residential unit based
in a listed building in the leafy outskirts of
Helensburgh some twenty miles from Glasgow by
the coast. It works with all kinds of substance
misusers including people who use heroin, methadone,
crack or cocaine and alcohol amongst other drugs.
Red Tower employs a staff team who come from a
variety of backgrounds including management, nursing,
social work and community work.
The project works with people from all over Scotland
although, most typically, from all areas of Glasgow.
It offers a twelve week programme for people who
are interested in recovery from substance misuse
or respite care from it. The programme includes
a prescribed and controlled detoxification from
substances; a full programme of groupwork; individual
assessment leading toward a care plan; regular
one-to-one's with a keyworker; social activities
both in the building and in the facilities of
Helensburgh and the surrounding area.
Referrals are made most commonly by Care Managers
working in the drugs field or by Social Workers.
People can also self refer, although they would
still need to be assessed by a Care Manager or
Social Worker. Additionally, all people are assessed
by a member of our Outreach Team.
Funding can be available from the local authority,
subject to assessment by their Care Manager. People
on benefits pay a contribution towards the cost
of the treatment. |
