Abercorn

A friendly, supportive place for people to develop the skills to gain and sustain their own tenancy

About

At Abercorn we support adults who are at a difficult point in their life, and are currently homeless. As well as helping them to secure their own tenancy we also help people build up their skills and self-belief, so that they can go on to lead full, independent lives within the community.

Abercorn is a safe space, where staff are on hand to offer support 24 hours a day. Our team are non-judgemental professionals, and we have genuinely good relationships with the people who stay here. While you stay here it’s your home, so we’ll always listen to what you have to say.

‘Since being at Abercorn I’ve had help from staff with anything I’ve needed help with, and they have been here for me if I just needed someone to talk to.' Sean

If you move in to Abercorn our priority is getting you the support that you need to get you to where you want to be. Trust and mutual respect are really important to us. Through a number of one-to-one sessions with your key worker we’ll find out what your goals and ambitions are, and then help you to meet them.

Alongside one to one work we also offer group work and activities, including art therapy, gardening projects and music projects. How long you stay with us depends on how quickly suitable accommodation can be secured for you to move into. When you do move into your own place, we will continue to support you for the first 8 weeks, checking in with you via our outreach support programme.

'The staff have been there for me in so many ways, they helped me use my phone and sort out my benefits.' Davie R
