Carbeth House

Helping adults with mental health problems to live independently in the community.

About

Carbeth House is a much-loved and long-established care home which is fully integrated into the local community in Possilpark, in the North West of Glasgow.

At Carbeth we support nine people who experience mental health problems, with the aim of helping them to enjoy a good quality of life, despite any symptoms they may continue to experience.

There is a sense of equality and friendliness between staff and residents; this helps people who may feel less valued within society to know that they are safe and welcome.

People being supported at Carbeth direct their own unique recovery journey in accordance with their hopes and ambitions. If you move in to Carbeth we’ll help you to identify individual outcomes to work towards, and the supports that will enable you to achieve these outcomes. These are implemented and reviewed on an on-going basis.

Our team of experienced, compassionate staff work to build therapeutic relationships with people using the service. They are recovery trained and they use their skills and knowledge to support people to build meaningful lives. Residents develop hope for a positive future and ultimately establish identities in which they are confident and fulfilled.

"The staff are very kind - the support I receive is very good." - P.S. Resident

The ultimate outcome if for people to feel prepared to move on from Carbeth House to a less supported environment or to a mainstream tenancy. Some of the smaller steps in reaching this goal may include rebuilding relationships, developing daily living skills, taking care of physical and mental health, having enhanced confidence and self esteem, having a purpose in life and feeling in control.

How to Get Involved

Carbeth House is funded by Glasgow Health and Social Care Partnership and as such they directly refer people who meet the criteria. If there is a space and you would like to join, a social work assessment would be carried out to check whether you meet the criteria. If you’re offered a place we’ll tell you more about the accommodation and support available when you come for your first visit.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us using the details on this page.
