Stravaig
Helping young people who have been going through difficult times to get back on their feet.
About
Stravaig provides immediate support to young people experiencing homelessness who need somewhere to stay in an emergency. Everyone gets their own en-suite room, and has access to a communal lounge, dining room, art room and laundry. All meals are provided, and we can cater for any dietary requirements and preferences.
Young people stay at Stravaig for up to 12 weeks; during that time we work with them to prepare them for independent living, and help them to find suitable longer-term accommodation.
Every person is different; if you move in to Stravaig the support you receive will be based around what you need, and what you want from life. Our staff are non-judgemental professionals, who are ready to listen to what you have to say.
It’s not all about accommodation; we can help with other stuff, like accessing benefits, education and job opportunities. You’ll be allocated your own keyworker who will coordinate your care and support. Whether you’re looking for help with addiction issues, hope to lead a more active lifestyle, or just want someone to talk to about your mental health, we’re here to make sure you get what you need. Staff are on hand 24 hours a day, to make sure you are always safe and supported.
"This is the best place I have been in, the staff encourage and support me to be more independent and eventually I will get own tenancy." Kellie
Some of the young people who live at Stravaig rewrote our Aims and Objectives. E.g. :
- Help me learn the skills I have never been taught, support me to meet with the people that will help me so that I stand a better chance of a new start when I move on from Stravaig.
How to get involved:
If you, or someone you know, wants to access Stravaig, contact the Community Homeless team in your area. More info HERE. If it’s outside office hours, use the contact details on this page.
